Leaked memo slates Xoom 4G upgrade for September, early adopters weep (updated)

To say we've been patiently waiting for the Xoom's promised 4G upgrade would certainly be an understatement. It looks like those of you counting on blistering speeds this summer are flat out of luck, as the LTE overhaul apparently won't begin until fall. Droid-Life's got a snap of a seemingly official Verizon memo, which alleges that the FCC-espied gratis upgrade will apparently land sometime in September. Also mentioned are links to Big Red's website on how to backup and package one's slate for its eventual voyage back to Moto's mothership. Hop on over to the source to see the full communiqué, and peep the more coverage links if you enjoy being prepared entirely too far in advance.

Update: A tipster has kindly sent us a copy of Verizon's email. It's looking pretty official, folks.

Libra for Android helps you track your weight using The Hacker's Diet system

libra
I'm getting fat; that's what you see on the screenshot to the right -- my gradual move from chubby to portly. But never mind the numbers, look at the pretty graph!

If you've ever read The Hacker's Diet, this graph should be instantly recognizable. Each point shows the weight for a given day, while the trend line lets you see if you're gaining or losing weight.

When I use my "main" PC, I have a homebrew solution for creating and maintaining this graph. But I've had to find a temporary solution for Android, and Libra is it.

It's a beautifully simple app, very true to the spirit of The Hacker's Diet. You can create a shortcut on your homescreen that brings you right into the data entry screen, so you just tap the shortcut every morning, feed in your weight for the day and hit OK, and then you get to see your progress (or lack thereof) on the graph.

The app remembers the previous day's weigh-in, which makes it easy to enter today's weight (as they're usually not too different). The graph is zoomable and scrollable, and most importantly, you can export the data to CSV so you're not locked into the app.

If you ever need to track your weight using an Android device for any period of time, Libra is one excellent solution.

Apple May Lower iPad Prices, Add Camera Module

Apple executives could be "nimble" on pricing for the iPad tablet PC, according to a Credit Suisse analyst, should the device fail to achieve sufficient marketplace traction following its release in two months. Prices for the iPad currently range from $499 to $829, depending on options such as Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. In addition, a job posting on the Apple corporate site adds fuel to rumors that Apple could be planning to integrate a camera module of some sort into the iPad. - Apple may be quot;nimble quot; on its price point for the upcoming iPad tablet PC, according to Credit Suisse analyst Bill Shope, if customers refuse to flock to the device during its initial rollout within the next two months. Shope met with Apple executives about the device sometime last w...

Clearwire announces $99 Clear Spot 4G Apollo hotspot
